In short
Text to Link runs in your browser. The text and URLs you type are processed on your device and are never sent to a server. There are no accounts and no ads.
What is stored on your device
Your browser keeps a few small items for this site: your theme (ttl-theme), your output format and options, but not your text (ttl-settings), and your analytics choice (ttl-consent).
The site is also saved by your browser’s service worker cache so that it can open without a connection. You can remove all of this at any time by clearing the site data in your browser settings.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and to see which tools, languages and countries are used. It never receives the text or URLs you enter. Advertising features and personalised ads are switched off.
Analytics storage is denied by default. Until you press Accept, no analytics cookies are set. The Google tag is still loaded from googletagmanager.com, so your browser contacts Google and Google can see your IP address, and Google may receive anonymous pings that carry no cookies or identifiers.
If you press Accept, Google Analytics sets cookies (_ga and _ga_*) and collects pseudonymous usage data such as the pages you open, your approximate location, and your browser and device type. Google acts as a processor of this data and may transfer it outside your country.
Hosting
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may log technical data such as your IP address when your browser requests a page, as described in GitHub’s privacy statement.
Links, QR codes and other sites
QR codes are generated in your browser. The Test link button opens the address you entered in a new tab, so the site you open will see your visit. We do not see it.
Your rights and contact
You can accept or decline analytics below at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data and to object to its processing. Because we do not collect your text or identify you, most requests are best sent to Google for analytics data.
